Day 2 Virtue : Silence

Tap Tap Tap Tap! Waking up to the sound of someone thumping on my window annoyed. I wake up stretch and look, and seeing that it’s my friend named Phillip with a pair of cargo pants I left at his house. I walk up the steps let him through the front door. He’s rushing me because I woke up late and the bus was coming less than 5 minutes. So I ran brushed my teeth, urine, and threw same clothes on then we left. So walking to the bus we talked about what we were doing this weekend and how much money we have left.

Approaching school at 8:15 I was irritated because I couldn’t eat breakfast, because I had to be at homeroom on time or else I would receive a tardy pass, but we don’t want that to happen. So in homeroom I was ill-tempered and drained didn’t want to be disturbed. The bell rang now we are going to 1st block. Walking in 1st block I go to my seat rested my head down because my stomach began aching. Then suddenly my female classmate started yelling at me for absolutely no reason and I replied back by saying some disrespectful words which was very dishonorable and immature way. I should have just walked away and be quiet , because doing that action was very ill-mannered and it showed others that I was an uncontrollable child .

The Enlightenment Shift

Enlightenment & Puritan Shift

This is the Salem witch trial . where 'witches' were convicted
Have you ever been indicted for something you haven’t done or even known about the situation got into trouble? Well during the Puritans Era people were always accused for being a witch. How and why? Well during the Puritan era people were really in the strong belief about God and hard work .Anything that wasn’t including those things were put too assumptions that you were a witch or that they were cooperating with the devil . Let’s say you were farming then one of you were farming and your healthiest cow just deceased , individuals would tell the authority then you’d be sent to the Salem witch trail . You may find more information about the puritan era at: http://www.cliffsnotes.com/study_guide/literature/the-crucible/critical-essays/historical-period-puritans-salem.html
After years of the Puritan era, people shift right to the Enlighten era. The Enlightenment Era was acknowledged for the "The Age of Reason”. Why? Well during the 17th century the enlightenment was a period when reason was valued above all else, the church was questioned on the basis of reason. Two good examples which aid the illustration why various historians split the Age of Reason from the Enlightenment are the works of Thomas Hobbes and John Locke. Hobbes, whose ideas are a product of the age of reason, systematically pursues and categorizes human emotion, and argues for the need of a rigid system to hold back the chaos of nature in his work Leviathan. While John Locke is clearly an intellectual descendant of Hobbes, for him the state of nature is the source of all rights and unity, and the state's role is to protect, and not to hold back, the state of nature. This fundamental shift, from a rather chaotic and dark view of nature, to a fundamentally orderly view, is an important aspect of the Enlightenment. He is stretching to find the trust , he has great curiosity .Its showed by his Effort and Posture

I think the shift amongst the puritans to the enlightenment era is a progressive shift because people can believe in what they want without being harassed, think outside the box , also become what you desire without individuals criticizing you , believing that you worshiping the devil WorkCited:

Day 1 Virtue : Silence

Silence is a very important role in someone’s life with silence a lot could be accomplished. A great man by the name of Benjamin Franklin once quoted,' This being acquired and established, Silence would be more easy; and my desire being to gain knowledge at the same time that I improved in virtue, and considering that in conversation it was obtained rather by the use of the ears than of the tongue, and therefore wishing to break a habit I was getting into prattling, punning, and joking, which only made me acceptable to trifling company, I gave Silence the second place''. I was once in that position just consecutively gossiping about other people, hurting their feelings saying thing that weren’t true. When I could be a respectable being by flattering them and by encouraging them brightening their day. Also by making them happy about themselves .
The success and failure I have with this virtue is that you passing dishonest gossips you will under no circumstances have friends. People will not be open around you people would avoid you, because you run your mouth with dishonest statement. Unlike being in that situation if you kept a positive approach, saying and making positive remarks more people will be open too you trusting you . Also more friends will come and stay .
